hide and seek

Last night, Skye and I were playing hide and seek.

Skye had the 'seeking' part downpat. She's an expert at counting and was quick to look all over the room to find me. She'd laugh and shout excitedly everytime she would discover me crouched in my hiding place. Hiding for her is another story. Before I even start looking for her, she's already jumping out of her hiding place shouting "You found me, Mommy!" No matter how many times I told her that she should keep hiding until I really find her, she insisted on playing the game her way. Guess it didn't matter, she knew what was fun for her and just did it.

Maybe I should take a cue from Skye sometimes. Do less hiding and more seeking.

I'm learning how to wait and wait well. The old me would get so impatient and grumble...throw temper tantrums directed towards God. Now, I'm learning to wait in expectation...to wait in hope, knowing that if it doesn't happen today, at least I'm one day closer to what I'm waiting for. To wait is to pray, to plan, to prepare.

It's also knowing that God's timing is perfect, that whether here or there, whether I go or stay, God will give me the best in life. He will cause me to be at the right place, at the right time. I am blessed, and I am a blessing to others wherever I may be. I am blessed in the city and blessed in the country. I am blessed going in and blessed coming out.

Watch out, miracles are coming!

My mom just left the house for her trip to Canada to visit my sister. My dad and Joe brought her to the airport. Last night Sheila and Carol F. were nice enough to stop by to pray with us to send my mom off. We declared favor and blessings upon blessings for her on this trip, from the moment she steps into the Philippine airport and until she gets back home. This trip is already evidence of God's favor on my mom because most of her expenses were provided for and she had pocket money to boot.

It is so exciting to know that as Christians we walk in God's favor and can expect this everyday of our lives. His word says so.

SURELY His goodness, mercy, and unfailing love will follow us [pursue us, overtake us] ALL THE DAYS OF OUR LIVES, and we will dwell in the house of the Lord FOREVER. (Psalm 23:6)

And I will make of you a great nation, and I will bless you [with abundant increase of favors] and make your name famous and distinguished, and you will be a blessing [dispensing good to others].

Had a rare day where I hardly did anything work-related (save for a couple of emails and numerous text messages for our fgd next week). Was able to do some R & R...reading and relaxing...my hair that is...hahaha, corny ko. Was finally able to get my hair relaxed after months and months of wanting to have it done, thanks to an unexpected blessing. For the reading part, am currently reading this...

Am reading a borrowed copy, but after the first chapter, I decided that I needed to own a copy myself. I'll go buy one tomorrow. It's simply written, but the message about how much God loves us, what He wants for us, and how He sees us, is so strong. It's really lifted me, and I'm not even halfway through. I am excited and expecting great things that God has planned for Skye and me. Don't know exactly what yet, but I know it's coming!

Last Jan. 3rd , we were all set to drive to Sta. Rosa to take Skye to Enchanted Kingdom. We were about to go on Edsa when we remembered that the car was color-coded that day. So we ended up here:

I learned on this helicopter ride that unlike me, my daughter has no fear of heights. I'm still deciding if that's a good thing.
She was excited to go on this ride because ever since she watched Annie (47 viewings ago...she's got the dialogue and blocking memorized), she's been wanting to ride the helicopter like Annie.
Never mind if we ended up at Fiesta Carnival instead of EK. Skye had fun.
Can't beat P40 per ride, and it's just a stone's throw from our house.

Skye and I are such big fans of VeggieTales. It's one of the few shows I actually enjoy watching with her. It has lots of musical numbers, and it's so well-written that the humor of the show appeals to grown-ups as well. They do their own versions of popular stories like Madame Blueberry (Madame Bovary), Prince Omelette (Hamlet) and now, the Lord of the Beans (based on you know what!) . The main character is a Flobbit named Toto Baggypants and there's also Ear-a-Corn, Leg-o-Lamb, and the dwarf Grumpy...hahaha. Am sure this is going to be hilarious. And what I like about VeggieTales is all the stories have a value lesson from the Bible in the end. Mommies looking for good videos to get for their kids should check out VeggieTales . This is a totally unsolicited plug. We just really like it!

Was able to bring Skye to Tiendesitas for her first calesa ride ever. Turns out the ride is free if you buy at least P100 worth from any of the stalls there. And with just one ticket, 5 of us got to ride. Since we were a bigger group, we got to go on the biggest calesa. It was more like a calesa jeep. It coud probably fit at least 8 people.

Our calesa driver was cooperative. He let us stop at one point so we could take pics. Put Skye in the driver's seat beside the calesa guy but he got conscious and got off and didn't want to be in the pic. So when Skye realized she was alone near the horse, she got scared na. Ergo, no pics with the horse in sight. She enjoyed the calesa ride though. Kept saying 'want to ride the horsey!' Ya right, skye.

Skye and I don't have to go to work for 3 days. Skye 'goes to work' too coz I bring her to Gymboree w/me everyday. It's Sunday today and Gymboree Polo is closed Monday and Tuesday for the All Saints' holidays here in the Phillies. Not that I won't have work to do here from home and that Gymboree Shang will still probably call me since they're open Monday, but at least it's a mini holiday of sorts.

Tomorrow I plan to bring Skye to Tiendecitas (sp?) . It's that new glorified tiangge along C5 that was fashioned after the night market in Bangkok. I think it's supposed to be a tourist attraction of sorts. Heard you can even go on calesa (horse-carriage) rides, so I'll let Skye try that. Other than that we'll just mostly stay home, catch up on DVDs I haven't watched, and do whatever Gymboree work I need to finish. If I get inspired, maybe I'll organize the piles of junk in my room. Highly unlikely though. haha. So while the rest of the citizens are out of town, we'll just be here in good ole Metro Manila. I'll just make up for my lack of real vactions next year. Skye and I are going to Toronto and the States in March, God-willing! Hi to Ate Trisha and Kuya Toby from Skye :)

Skye was so cute this morning. When we woke up she hugs me and says "Awuvyasuhmuch" (I love you so much) then kisses me. I was still hugging her and enjoying the sweetness of it all when she suddenly demands "I want to eat popcorn!" Oh well, so much for precious moments. hahaha

Brought Skye, along with Grace & Andrea (my bosses' daughters), to watch Trumpets' Little Mermaid a few weeks ago.
The girls had fun. They were able to follow the story but of course referred to the characters with their Disney names. They kept asking me why Arielle was Jewel and why Prince Eric was Prince Christian. Didn't know how to explain the concept of 'copyright' to them...hahaha. In fairness though, Trumpets' version is truer to the original Little Mermaid story. Well, with a slight twist in the end. After the show, the girls got their pics taken with Ashley (Jewel), Maita (Princess Sapphire & Ninong Joe's...uhmm...good friend), and George (Prince Christian).

What is it with pinoys and their obsession with freebies? Was at a kids' event today, and there was a mom complaining about why only children got the freebies and not the adults. Never mind that other children go without as long as grown-ups also got their 2 mini plastic toys, a sticker, and munchies. Sigh.

Was looking through skye's old pics and found this. It cracked me up :D I remember she went through this stage where everytime we'd tell her "beautiful eyes, beautiful eyes" (a must-trick for all pinoy babies), she would scrunch up her face...hahaha.

...i got a simpler phone, downgraded my phone plan, and will be selling my camera phone. In preparation for that, had to dump out all the pics I had stored in it. Ergo, I was inspired to add a new album on my multiply page (friends who are not on multiply yet may need to join to view the album). The album's titled 'The Last of the Mobile Pics'...for awhile anyway... till I get blessed with a newer and better camera phone :)

1. take my mom and skye to europe, particularly austria (my mom wants to sing 'the hills are alive...') and of course, Isle of Skye (yup, it's a real place!)
2. write a children's book
3. go on a no-holds-barred clothes shopping spree
4. own a bmw suv
5. learn to ice-skate
6. go ice-skating at rockefeller center
7. memorize 100 bible verses
8. get my masters in early childhood education
9. pick up my college diploma from the registrar's office
10. visit the spots in new zealand where they filmed LOTR
11. perform the role of Joy in Shadowlands
12. perform the role of Fosca in Passion (i can dream can't i? :p see #31)
13. file my application for immigration to canada
14. go to boracay (never been there & skye's never been to the beach)
15. finish an open water dive course
16. swim with dolphins and whale sharks
17. go on an alaskan cruise and see orcas

19. live and work in new york for a year

25. take up ballet again for fun & to stay fit

Reluctant Flower Girl

Skye had her 2nd stint as a flower girl today at Sweet & Bam's wedding in Puerta Real. Unfortunately, after what she put me through getting that flower headdress on her, my little darling refused to walk. So I ended up carrying her AND her flower basket down the aisle. I think we're going to put a moratorium on flower girl bookings until am sure she will walk on her own. She was fine and running around though right after the ceremony. Go figure!

Pseudo-Day Off

Planned to stay home to catch up on sleep and CSI episodes saved on my laptop. But spent most of the day working anyway. sigh. Can't wait till the new sites are more stable. Hopefully then I'll get less calls from the sites and my To Do list on Outlook will be much, much shorter. Then I can have a REAL day off. Tomorrow though, by hook or by crook, I will leave work on time and bring Skye to a pool to swim. We both need a tan! hahaha :)

Was able to catch up on some sleep...woohoo! :D Wasn't getting much of that since we were so busy at work preparing for the opening of the new Gymboree Phils. sites. Woke up today at 12nn. Thank God I finally have a yaya. She can keep Skye company in the mornings when I don't have to wake up so early. Had a late lunch then now am trying to tinker with this blog. Kinda hard though coz Skye's on my lap doing the chicken dance while watching Dora. I have a dora video playing on the corner of my laptop screen. It's so hard to work coz half the time i just see the back of Skye's head instead of the screen. Maybe i'll try this again when she's out for her nap. Or then again, maybe I'll join her and take a nap myself...hehe. Then it's off to evening service for us. I love Sundays!
